PCS Batch '77 condoles with the family of our batchmate Jazmin de Leon-Manalo for the passing away of her son James Victor.

James Victor peacefully joined his Creator on 20th of September at 3AM at the young age of 19 due to osteosarcoma. We request our readers to offer prayers for the repose of his soul.

His remains lie in state at the St. Peter Memorial Homes in Quezon Blvd, Ephisians Chapel. Interment will be on Saturday.

Dear Fellow Alumni, it’s been awhile since our last correspondence. Thank you very much for those who attended the Grand Alumni Homecoming last December 2008 and kudos to the Class of 1984 as they prepare for this year’s homecoming.

The past months have been filled with activities as your Board continued to meet with various PCS Classes as they organize their respective classes. Class of 1961 thru Mr. Claro Arriola invited us in their execom meeting as they prepare for their golden jubilee year in 2011 together with silver jubilarians, class of 1986.

Last February, we also selected the Dux Awardees from among candidates nominated by the respective elementary and high school principals. You may find the list of winners in the attached files. Thanks to Mr. Alex Casas our CESA Chairman, the BOT and representatives from classes of 1984 and 1985 who took time to interview, screen and evaluate the candidates to come up with the winners.

The awards were given during the elementary and high school recognition days. The guest Speaker during the grade 6 graduation was Mr. Jose Maria Policarpio, and for the fourth year graduation was Gen. Rodolfo Garcia. During the high school undergraduate recognition day, the guest speaker was Atty. Zosimo Paredes.

We also assisted both Classes of 1984 and 1985 as they prepare for the forthcoming sporting activities, as follows:

Batch's Christmas Party

As agreed upon by the majority of the Board, our batch Christmas Party will be held on December 13, 2008, Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Venue will be at Mr. Toto Sevilla's place in Makati. Exact address and skecth will be advised later.

Food and drinks will be sponsored by our very kind Mr. President, Toto, while live entertainment will be rendered by Kiko Bona and his band. Expect an over-flowing of drinks, sumptuous meal, good music and lots of dancing during the party.

Please take note that this is also our batch 31st year so let's all take this opportunity of getting together once again and reminisce our good old times in PCS. 2008 SUMMER BOWLING GAMES

Hello fellow PCS Alumni (specially the bowling enthusiasts), we'd like to invite you to the forthcoming SUMMER BOWLING GAMES organized jointly by the PCSAAI and this yearâ€™s Silver Jubilarians, PCSHS Class of 1983. Details are as follows:

* WHEN: May 24, 2008 (10:00 a.m., start of registration)
* WHERE: Paeng's Midtown Bowl, Robinson's Ermita

Registration fee is P2,500 per team. The more teams the better â€“ your team may represent your Class or you may form a composite team with other classes. Each team will play three (3) games during the elimination and the top eight (8) teams will qualify to pay for the finals (one game). In the finals, the top eight (8) teams will play for four (4) awards categories, e.g.: Top 1-2 (Class A); 3-4 (Class B); 5-6 (Class C); 7-8 (Class D). Weâ€™ll also award the highest menâ€™s and ladiesâ€™ single based on the finals games.

Weâ€™ll send out more details on the mechanics in our next email. So form your team, practice those swings, and get ready to strike on May 24. See you there!!

Message from the Chairman:

Dear All,

I think Cary already mentioned everyone that needs to be thanked. I won’t mention their names again. I would also like to express my deep appreciation for their incredible efforts in making our Christmas party a success. Most especially, I would like to thank the 50 or so batchmates who sacrificed their busy weekend to be able to attend our 30th anniversary affair. The celebration was really for them and we’re gratified that everybody had a wonderful time. To those who were not able to make it, we hope to see you in our future get-togethers.

How time flies! Soon it will be our 35th, then our 40th and if we are still around, our golden jubilee. As immediate past Chairman of batch 77, I hope you will allow me to leave you a Christmas message to cap my stint as Chair of this great batch. Let me quote from Psalm 90;12, which was written by Moses. Addressing our Lord, he prayed: “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom”. Dear friends, I pray that all of us will receive this heart of wisdom that will guide us in the next 30 years and beyond. I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a fruitful New Year!!!

Message from the Treasurer:

To all my batchmates,

I want to congratulate the PCS batch 77 board of directors for the successful Xmas party that we celebrated last Dec. 1. Special mention to Nanette Mojica, our beautiful and hard-working secretary who coordinated the preparation of the party. She is really a workhorse and a very dependable board member. Special thanks also to Ralph Lim who made the arrangements for the venue, food, drinks, decorations, etc. at a very special discount. Kudos to our Chairman, Nestor, who btw, was elected most alluring gentleman of the night (he really deserves it). Of course, to our very generous and charismatic President, Toto Sevilla... my salute. He is always supportive of the endeavors and activities of our batch. We have to give it to him. To Evelyn Bautista, our hardworking assistant treasurer, my sincere thanks for helping me out with our financials. To Fidel Mercado, who is always the party person that he is... thanks for the antics. To Joey Matias, our vice chairman, who is always there to assure the success of the affair. Gary Naval, Rey Castro, Momoy, thank you for the legwork. They were responsible for the well-attended occassion. Let's not forget Kiko Bona and wife and their band, who provided us a very classy entertainment. Kiko also was the designer of our logo. Bert Lavarenti, thanks for being supportive not only to our batch but also to the whole PCS alumni association. To all who were not mentioned (masyado na kasing mahaba), but contributed not only to the success of the affair, but also to the activities that we have engaged in this year, thank you very much. This is just to remind all of you of our Christmas Party/30th anniversary on December 1, 2007 at the Makati Sports Club. (Will be providing you a sketch of the place later.) Registration will start at 6:00 p.m. To make the event more exciting, please take note of the following:

a) exchange gifts among batch members worth P300 minimum or P500 maximum;
b) please be in your 70's attire so we can again experience the feeling back in those years;
c) please wear anything with pearl on it;
c) please bring some things that you have used or would remind of our school days, i.e. school ID, school uniform, class or group pictures, etc. that you may still be keeping with you.

My Dearest Batch Mates,

2007 marks our 30th anniversary as graduates of PCS’s famous (or infamous?) Batch ‘77. Having attended some of the batch’s recent activities, I find it remarkable that a number of our classmates have kept in touch with each other over the past many years and some have even developed closer ties after graduation. Sadly however, most of us, me included, have sort of drifted away, the wonderful memories and stories of our PCS years all but drowned out by work, businesses, hectic schedules and family affairs. Over time, we have almost totally forgotten the warm camaraderie we had with our classmates, the shared adventures, the boyfriends/girlfrie nds gained and lost, the happy occasions and the sad ones.

Well if you’re one those who have forgotten, now’s your chance to relive the memories of those high school years. Batch 77 will have its 30th anniversary party on 1 Dec 2007 to be held at the Makati Sports Club from 6 pm onwards. Our hardworking secretary, Nanette (Mojica) will be advising you the planned activities at a later date.

Wherever (and whatever) you are now, I, on behalf of this year's Board, would like to extend my deepest, most heartfelt invitation to you to attend our forthcoming reunion. Your board is making every effort to make our pearl anniversary get-together a truly memorable one. But it will not be complete if our very special guests – YOU, will not be able to make it.

On October 20 Saturday the PCS Alumni 6th bowling Tour will be held at Robinsons Malate 11 am sharp. Class '78 is a 3 time champion whereas class '77 twice won the championship. Our players are Charlie Tupaz, Tura, Marlene, Ricky Saludes, Nannette Mojica, Me & Jun Gonio.

Incidentally that day is also the birthday of Nannette & Marlene just celebrated her natal day last Oct. 9. So I am inviting all our friends & officers to join the fun & celebration.

The officers meeting for our Christmas Pearl celebration will also follow after the game. Will keep you posted on further developments.

We just had a very succesful bingo socials last Saturday, June 30, 2007. It was attended by more than a hundred people, which include friends, batchmates and some from other batch. Will be posting the pictures taken thru the camera of Marlyn Manuel, on a separate mail, for your appreciation.

As previously mentioned, proceeds of this project will be used for the forthcoming 30th anniversary of Batch 77, which is tentatively scheduled on December 1, 2007. The Board is now into coming up with the activities for the said affair so that we are then encouraging those who are available to attend our next board meeting (date to be advised later) to hear your comments/suggestion s, if any. We need your support and cooperation to make our batch's 30th anniversary a meaningful and memorable one. For those in abroad who plan to come home, we are more than excited to know who among you can come to this event.

The prizes were in cash:

1st to 3rd game - P1,000/game;
4th to 5th game - P1,500/game
6th game - P2,000
7th game - P3,000
8th game - P4,000
9th game - P5,000
10th game (block out) - P10,000

There were batchmates who won like myself & Echie on the second game; Noel Ibanez was a solo winner of P4,000; Momoy shared with 3 more other winners on the 9th game. The one who won the grand prize was a pregnant woman who bought tickets from Gary Naval. It was really a lot of fun and the whole Board was so happy with its result. May 10 '07 meeting re: Bingo Socials

A special meeting last May 10, 2007 was held at Toto's new residence in Fort Bonifacio.

The bingo tickets were distributed among the new set of officers and some batchmates (Bambi Brillantes, Allan Alvarez & Nep Marquez) who were there, with whom our other batchmates who wish to play may get their tickets in exchange for the bingo cards on June 30th. It was also a get-together event again, for those who attended it. The place, food and drinks are thru the kindness of Toto and family.

The bingo socials will be held on June 30th at 2 pm at the Federal Restaurant in Allied Bank, Ayala, Makati. The printing of the tickets is thru the courtesy of Ms. Merle Crisologo Laudencia, free of charge.

Summer '07 Outing

The overnight outing was held last April 28 - 29 at our Chairman Nestor's resort in Tanay, Rizal. The affair was attended by Nepthali Marquez, Toto Sevilla and family, Fidel Mercado and family, Cary Casibang and family, Ariel Ramirez and family, Benjie & Sammy Pereyra with their daughter, Raffy Lim and wife Celia, Butch Llamas, Joey Matias, Raul Guevarra, Momoy Gamboa, Ramon Manay, Ompong Mañalac, Hazel Amodo, Johnny Biasca, Jun Gonio, Gary Naval, Arnold Quiapo (who came the next day prior to his flight for Davao in the afternoon), and yours truly.

It was fun-filled with music (there was a videoke singing contest with Sammy P. emerging as the 1st prize winner of P1,000 and Teddy as the best performer of P500), swimming until midnight, flooding with food and drinks (a whole lechon was courtesy of Toto Sevilla), and lots of reminiscing stories.

As a whole, the outing was a successful one.

He is also currently the Assistant Vice President of Integral Chemical Corp. and Technical Director where he works for 14 years now. From 1992 to 2002, he is the Charter member and Director of Technical Association of Pulp Paper Industry of the Philippines.

Abet Panugao of Batch '77 foiled a P6million robbery attempt when heavily armed men shot the armored van he was driving along R. Blvd in January 22, 1990? The suspects failed to get near the armored car because Abet kept it running despite being peppered by bullets. He stopped only after ramming several cars parked on the service road near the Manila Hotel.

Boyette Esteban of Batch '77 was appointed dean of the College of Business Administration in University of Central Arkansas?

Tim Coloso of Batch '77 played for the Toyota team in the Philippine Basketball Association?

Nestor Custodio of Batch '77 is currently the Director and COO of Ing Barings? He graduated with a degree of BSC major in Accounting and started as a clerk in UCPB (United Coconut Planters Bank), and transferred to HSBC in 1982 as a clerk too. Before he left HSBC in 1994, he was then the AVP and was later on hired by Ing Barings, a Dutch-owned banking institution based in Manila.
